Beethoven-Festival 2020
Ludwig van Beethoven was not as closely related to any other theater as to the Theater an der Wien. Many of his works were presented to the public for the first time. For the celebrations in Beethoven year 2020, the Theater an der Wien is dedicating a very special celebration to its former composer.
Exciting commissioned works such as Christian Josts EGMONT directed by Keith Warner or Tscho Theisings GENIA in the Kammeroper show the concept of freedom that is so important for Beethoven, but also aspects of his personality, such as his striving for perfection. In addition to a station concert, its own exhibition and three concerts, Beethoven's only opera FIDELIO under the direction of Oscar winner Christoph Waltz rounds off an impressive program.
Get to know works as well as the person Beethoven from February to May in the Theater an der Wien.
